Summary

The undefined website content discusses the "Collective Nouns Project," an initiative to promote and celebrate the diverse collective nouns in the English language, with a focus on the importance of pollinators like butterflies and bees, and invites participation from others to contribute stories, poems, and articles under the "ILLUMINATION SPECIAL PROJECTS" banner.

Abstract

The "Collective Nouns Project" is a creative endeavor aimed at highlighting the richness of collective nouns, particularly those related to nature and pollinators such as butterflies and bees. The project emphasizes the significance of these pollinators for the future of human food sources and encourages appreciation for the natural world. It was inspired by a workplace quiz and personal photography, leading to the creation of stories and articles that celebrate these creatures. The project is part of "ILLUMINATION SPECIAL PROJECTS," which serves as a platform for various creative and environmental initiatives. Contributors are encouraged to tag the project curators and use the kicker "Collective Nouns Project" when submitting their work. Additionally, the website provides links to related articles and projects for further inspiration, including "Frugal Fridays and Tips Bulletin" and "The Gaia Project."

Collective Nouns Project

Will you join me in promoting the myriad collective nouns in the English language?

This project, for me, is about humans and how we interact with nature in all her glory. For me, a big part is appreciating the beauty of my surroundings and the work put in by two types of pollinators.

There are many different types of insects that ensure the male pollen is transferred to the female of the same type of flower. These animals and insects fertilize and ensure flowers produce seeds to enable a future generation of plants.

The conservation of butterflies and bees (and other pollinators) should be a top priority for humans if we are to eat well in the future.

I’d love for you to help me promote collective nouns and whatever angle you chose to illuminate them. They could be so much fun and many are not well known.

I’m pretty certain you’ll be able to find a collective noun or ten that will prompt some ideas to write a story, poem, fiction or non-fiction. Here’s a list to help you.

My first inspiration was from a quiz at work and knowing that I had some fabulous (well I think so) photos of butterflies just waiting for their moment to star in a story!

My second followed on in the same vein because I had a collection of videos and photos of bees recorded and captured last year.

This story is a place for the stories I write which are part of the Collective Nouns Project which is part of ILLUMINATION SPECIAL PROJECTS. The idea being that special projects are easy to find under the kicker header.

Everyone is welcome to join in with both projects. With the Collective Noun please tag me into your story so I can read it. And type Collective Nouns Project in the Kicker.

With a project of your own for the ILLUMINATION SPECIAL PROJECTS please follow Tree Langdon’s instructions in the story below. Don’t forget to tag Tree and Dr Mehmet Yildiz.

For inspiration from Dr John Rose here is his project.
