Selected stories on ILLUMINATION-Curated
Collection of Curated Stories on ILLUMINATION
Selected stories by Stuart Englander hosted on ILLUMINATION-Curated
Selecting my own stories for curation seems to me what I imagine travelling to space the first time might be like. Daunting, daring, and a little bit crazy, so like any good astronaut, I did my double checks and tried not to throw up in my helmet.
There is no particular order to my choices; only that I feel these efforts represent my best work to date. While it is still clear I still have much to learn about honing the craft of writing, let me say that once I cleared the launch pad, the ride has been spectacular.
Meeting people who thrive and struggle in much the same manner as me, makes the whole journey more worth the while.
You never really are alone if you think about it.
So with that in mind, let’s carry the space theme a little farther with a quote that sums this task up nicely for me.
Why don’t you fix your little problem and light this candle?
The Art of Choice
#fiction #love #life
Choosing to take a first step occasionally needs a little prodding. Amazing things can happen just from trying.
Is This Real, Or Is It A Nightmare?
#life #self #Psychology
When your greatest influencers are the ones you love most, and they are put in harm’s way. This true story was a struggle to get out of my system because it meant so much.
Just Exactly what is The New Normal?
#society #politics #equality
When all is said and done, will humanity still remember to do the right thing? The last eight months should be a wake-up call to those who stay silent.
“Welcome Back My Friends To The Show That Never Ends”…
#music
This one is special for two reasons, It was my first curated story, and it discusses one of my favourite subjects, classic rock music.
Let’s Holiday Early This Year
#Film #Self
Back in July, it was only beginning to look bleak. I figured a feel-good Christmas movie ought to lift the spirit.
How Much Does It Really Take?
#Pandemic #COVID 19 #grief
The loss of a loved one in the throws of world panic served to be a surreal, and painful experience. Too many still, aren’t taking the threat of this virus seriously.
The Ebbs and Flows of Miscommunication
#editing #communication
Trying my hand as an editor has taught me much, including the perils of private messaging. In the end, I hope I’ve made some new friends from the experience.
My Dog Has A Drinking Problem
#writing #creativity
You never know when you’re going to hit on a winner. I’m so glad people enjoyed my tales about my dog. Maybe I should let her write a few pieces here.
Requiem For A Mythology
#cinema
It took a lot for me to get down what I wanted to say in this film critique. I believe the Western movie genre holds a special place in cinema still. I hope that future generations will revisit them with exuberance and curiosity.
And last but not least…
Going For Broke
#short story #fiction
This will remain among my favourites because it is my first attempt at an homage to one of my heroes; Rod Serling. Though his work may seem dated by today’s standards, his work was always thought-provoking and human.
I’m extremely grateful to Dr. Mehmet Yildiz and everyone at ILLUMINATION-Curated who has taken me in with open arms. Tree Langdon, CPA, CGA Liam Ireland Britni Pepper Agnes Laurens Myriam Ben Salem. With their help and yours, I hope to become a better writer.
Thank you to all who took the time.
