Coffee vs Espresso
Coffee and espresso are the basic ingredients. Come find the details

I think Espresso is one type of coffee at the start! As far as I know, coffee is only differentiated based on the composition of its ingredients.
Like cappuccino and latte that are made with espresso, steam milk, and milk foam but composed in different quantities comparison.
Mocha that made from espresso, milk foam, and hot chocolate.
All of them play with ingredients. Until I find an interesting issue between grid coffee and espresso.
In fact, both grid coffee and espresso are basic ingredients to later modify and mix with the additional recipes as our preference.
Coffee itself is a brewed drink that comes from species of plant namely coffea. This type of plant needed a warm climate, shaded sun, some amount of rain, and plenty of soil.
That is why the name coffee is more familiar as a basis because it is similar to the name of the plant.
Some even think that espresso is a modified coffee What distinguishes these two basic elements is the processing technique.
So, coffee is processed directly brewed or filtered, while espresso is a Coffee-based drink that is processed under high pressure.
To understand more about the issue, let’s go deeper. Here is what I found the differences!
1. Specific Method
Espresso is processed using a complex brewing method with high pressure and hot water coming together.
This process makes espresso produce less extract than regular coffee but with more concentrated results.
Making good espresso requires technical skills because the grinding method, temperature, and amount of pressure affect the results.
On the other hand, besides regular brewing, coffee can also be made using a filter that depends on the gravity technique so, that the aroma of the coffee obtained is more concentrated but still inferior to espresso.
Here’s a simple illustration

Of course, now there are many modern versions of coffee makers that are not only more convenient but also produce extract coffee that is more concentrated and delicious.
2. The Beans
Actually, espresso can be made from any type of coffee bean. Because the pressure point isn’t about the material but the roasting process afterward.
You may have seen boxes of coffee beans at the supermarket labeled as “espresso beans” and others labeled as “coffee beans.” Interestingly, this has nothing to do with the bean itself.
The label on the bean is actually just a guide on how to grind and prepare it.
3. Color
The espresso typically has a darker color than traditional coffee.
I think this because espresso extract is more concentrated as I mentioned above.
4. Processing Time
Ordinary coffee needs less time to roast but produces many extracts while espresso is roasted longer and is usually roasted in the second round which will cause the coating to crack a second time to get a well to caramelize and produce a sweeter taste.
5. Amount of Caffeine
If measured in units of weight in powder form, espresso has higher caffeine than regular coffee.
According to Mayo Clinic, ordinary coffee contains about 12–21 milligrams of caffeine per ounce. Meanwhile, espresso has 47–64 milligrams of caffeine per ounce.
On the other hand, when we served them as a cup of drip coffee, espresso usually contains less caffeine than ordinary coffee.
6. Country
Espresso originates from Italy, the first coffee drink machines that used steam were created and produced there around the 1800s.
Since then, espresso become one of the favorites drinks that pleasure for people worldwide.
7. How to served
Espresso is mostly served as a luxury drink in luxury places like cafés, restaurants, cafeterias, and other places alike while coffee is usually served in small street stalls, and small coffee shops where the price is also cheaper.
8. The Flavor
Espresso has a bolder and thicker flavour that comes from finely-ground beans brewed with a high grounds-to-water ratio.
Coffee, on the other hand, is a thinner, less concentrated liquid that generally has a milder flavor but the texture is coarser.
Bottom Line
I’m not a person who is really addicted to coffee but honestly, I need a cup of coffee to accompany me while I’m working and need more focus.
The caffeine just helps me to stay awake and decrease my headache after seeing the screen for a long time.
Right now, I can understand why there are many people who dig into coffee so much. I just realized that coffee really more interesting than I thought.
