Café Sanctuary
attending like mass familiarity found communion café
In my story Therapy Café, I discuss not only the origins of coffee (real and mythological) but also my appreciation for coffee in creating moments of sensory mindfulness and communion. Coffee also features prominently in my forthcoming novel, The Promise of Feral Seeds. If you have followed my stories and poems you have seen hints of the book which will travel across borders of time, space, and states of consciousness.
*For those unfamiliar, Ouroboros is a gnostic and alchemical symbol that expresses the unity of all things, material and spiritual. I discuss why I prefer Greek Coffee when I can get it in Therapy Café. Hint: It has to do with the way that it is made and what that means for the relationship between the maker and the drinker.
I would like to thank Kris Bedenian, whose story below sparked a conversation that ended with her suggestion that I explore a haiku on my love of coffee. Instead of one, three were born.
