PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE
Cloudy Skies and Spectacular Sunsets
Week 49 of the photographic documentary of my daily life
After a very wet and rainy June, July is continuing where June left off. More rain, more clouds, and that means also more spectacular cloud bursts and sunset shots.
This week took me once again across Germany for another weekend of jumping out of planes and looking for peace and quiet towards the end of the day. Usually, I find that when looking for my daily picture for the photo-a-day challenge.

I’ve been traveling to my parent’s place by train and bus when I got this stunning view across the “Neckartal”. The beautiful old city of Esslingen is on the right. Vineyards are covering the hills in the back. The suburbs of the city of Stuttgart are seen on the left.

Right, look at this explosion of colors. It had been raining all day long. I had a drive of almost 6 hours to cover in order to reach my destination. During the entire drive, I’ve only switched off my windshield wipers once. Only once for less than 5 minutes. The rest of the time it had been pouring down rain.
Later that evening when I was settled in the RV I would be staying for the weekend, the rain stopped, and eventually, the sky exploded during sunset. What a colorful spectacle!

The following day started sunny and was rather successful. I did a few nice jumps and was rather exhausted towards the end of the day. When walking back to my campervan I looked across the field of wildflowers when the sun was painting the sky.

I woke up early Sunday morning with the sun hitting my eyes. It was warm despite not even being 7 a.m. yet. A beautiful day ahead!

Well, and this was Monday morning. When I got up for work all my muscles hurt and I didn’t understand why the alarm rang since it was still dark. But the low-hanging fog was hiding the sun and therefore the morning hours were rather dark.
For those new to my blog, this is the view from the terrace of our flat. A lovely view across a tiny mountain village.

This is “the light at the end of the tunnel”. In case you’re thinking it is a rather dark shot, well this was the brightest moment of the day. It had stopped raining late in the afternoon and then I even got to see a small patch of blue sky towards the end of the day.
But the rain isn’t over yet. More to come…

It started as a sunny morning when I drove to work but sometime during the day, I could hear the rain coming. Heavily. I drove home from work in the rain and it continued during the afternoon. This was when I decided to capture these raindrops on the ivy leaves.
First of all, because this sums up the day the best, and secondly because I simply enjoy capturing raindrops on all kinds of objects.
This has been my week in photographs. 7 days. 7 photographs. Anyone can join. Once. Or weekly. It doesn’t matter. We welcome everyone! Dennett was the one starting this photography challenge sometime last year and many have participated ever since.
