DAY 3 PROMPT

Cloning

A sonnet

Asexual reproduction has been, Happening for eons, thought the small shoot, Thousands on the table, all of them kin, Sent up a silent cheer, all of them mute.

A sign hung over the long greenhouse bed, Clones have few errors in replication. Clone is not a dirty word, the sign read, Results in rapid multiplication.

Plant a monoculture. It’s tradition. It‘s so safe as long as you plant us in, Varied environmental conditions, Natural selection’s pause is stuck in.

Boy picked up the trays and loaded the bus, Each window flashed the same boys face seen thus.

Written in response to the prompt ‘cloning’, day three of The National Poetry Month 2021 with Shabd Aaweg Review.

There are still twenty-seven days left, If anyone wants to join in the fun, the rules can be found at the link above.
