Today, Anthropic released Claude 2 just five days after OpenAI unveiled Code Interpreter GPT 4.5. It’s an exciting time to be following AI development!

Here’s what we know so far about these Claude 2:
🟠 Claude 2 builds on Anthropic’s previous Claude models, focused on being helpful, honest, and harmless. It uses Constitutional AI to adhere to ethical principles.
🟠 Anthropic claims Claude 2 is easier to chat with, explains itself better, is much less likely to be harmful, and remembers more context.
🟠 Claude 2 improved on coding, math, reasoning vs older Claude models. It generates coherent texts up to 3000 words long.

As an AI artist, having an assistant that can explain itself clearly and avoid harmful outputs is important to me. Claude 2’s focus on honesty and harmlessness is appealing. Its improved conversational ability could also help my creative process.

1. It can be accessed via API and a new public-facing beta website called claude.ai. 2. Users have reported that Claude is easy to converse with, explains its thinking clearly, and produces fewer harmful outputs. 3. Claude 2 has a longer memory and improved skills in coding, math, and reasoning. 4. It scored 76.5% on the multiple-choice section of the Bar exam, an improvement from 73.0% with Claude 1.3. 5. On the GRE reading and writing exams, Claude 2 scores above the 90th percentile, and similarly to the median applicant on quantitative reasoning. 6. Users can input up to 100K tokens in each prompt, allowing Claude to work with extensive technical documentation or even a book. 7. Claude 2 can write longer documents, from memos to letters to stories, up to a few thousand tokens in one go. 8. Its coding skills improved with a score of 71.2% on the Codex HumanEval Python coding test, up from 56.0%. 9. On the GSM8k grade-school math problems, Claude 2 scored 88.0%, up from 85.2%. 10Claude 2 is safer, giving harmless responses 2x better than Claude 1.3 in a red-teaming evaluation.
GPT-4.5 ‘s Code Interpreter is Yesterday’s Star!
It’s too early to declare a definitive winner. Both models have tradeoffs and neither is perfect yet.
I’m eager to try them both out on art and creative projects. Testing their strengths and limitations directly will provide the best insight.
