Chasing 100? Let Me Highlight You in My Read-for-Read Article!

Photo by Sincerely Media on Unsplash

It’s officially December, and you know what that means? The Medium Partner Program deadline is closing in — fast!

Since I joined Medium in mid-October, I’ve been blown away by the community spirit of this platform, and I’ve tried to do my part to pay forward the support I’ve received.

I am pretty much neutral when it comes to the follow-for-follow debate. Ultimately, I can see the pros and cons of the method.

And, like anything that I feel “blah” about, I don’t give it much thought. Instead, I try to focus on those I can support with a resounding “YES!”

✍Challenging myself to create content from the heart.

📖 Committing to read as much as I write.

📣Promoting stand-out writers and their work!

👩🏼‍🤝‍👩🏻Doing my part to build a Medium community where all writers can grow and thrive.

It was in that spirit that I published this article:

The article opts out of the traditional follow-for-follow model, focusing, instead, on engagement and reads, by:

🅰requesting writers (seeking 100) comment with a link to a piece of their writing along with a brief commentary about what it means to them so I can

🅱read their work and add it to the main article for other writers and readers to encounter.

Plus, it follows a Lord of the Rings theme so, enough said!

So far, 20 writers who participated in the article have moved on to 100 followers and beyond.

Now, I know my article played a tiny part in that success, but still, it feels good to know I contributed.

Want to Participate?

As the 2021 winds down, if you’re still seeking 100 and want to participate in my read-for-read experiment, hop over to the original article and leave a comment with:

1️⃣Your Medium handle (@ + username)

2️⃣a link to an article you published

3️⃣a brief note about what the piece means to you!

4️⃣And, in a community spirit, check out the work of other writers on the list!

Here’s that original link again:

If you’ve already established your following and Medium partnership, I invite you to check out the article in hopes you’ll discover a few new voices to read (and maybe even follow).

Let’s keep building a Medium where all writers can grow and thrive!
