Hello Medium! This one goes out to all the writers striving to hit that 100 follower mark to keep creating and make some money in the process.
Yep! That’s right — the Medium Partner Program, December 31st deadline, is drawing nigh. It’s probably feeling a bit:
A dark, ominous shadow lingering in the distance.
And while we’re on the topic of Lord of the Rings (I know we weren’t, but I always am), they are the most bad-ass example of “follow-for-follow” in the history of literature!
Honestly, I am not sure how I feel about the “follow-for-follow” strategy. Ultimately, I see valid points on both sides of the argument.
I do know that:
And boy was Boromir right! Ah, foreshadowing!
But, ALSO, one does not simply walk into the Medium Partner Program either — a little fellowship helps!
So, to recap, here’s what I DON’T know:
How I feel about the follow-for-follow approach.
Here’s what I DO know:
I believe in the community spirit of the Medium platform!
Read-for-read is not a strategy — it's a way of life!
Deeper engagement for deeper engagement? Yes! I can support that.
Okay, Here’s How I Would Like to Help👊
Writers with under 100 followers, COMMENT with:
1. Your Medium handle (using the @ sign).
2. A link to a piece of writing you published on Medium.
3. Tell me: what you love most about this particular piece of writing!
Here’s What I Will Do📣
As I receive your comments,
I will update this article, including your name (+ handle)
the link to your writing a few words about the piece (including your reasons for choosing the piece!).
What Do I Want In Return? Pay It Forward!💗
Interact with other writers on the list. You don’t have to follow everyone — but seek out writers who you think you would enjoy connecting with in the future and engage with their writing: read, clap, comment — all the good stuff!
Further, if you know other writers (under 100) who would benefit from this article — share with them!
As for me, I would love it if you would check out one of my curation articles — where I review stand-out Medium writers and share their work (plus some of my impressions)! See the links below. And, if you feel like I am a writer whose content you would engage with in the future — give me a follow!
Of course, I will appreciate the reads — but more so, I hope you find new writers via my list to support, read, and follow!
Here’s What I Don’t Want (Please) ❌
This post is about reading and engaging with other writers (and gaining followers at the same time). Please, don’t use the list to generate follows without being willing to read and connect with other writers. Thanks!
Okay, let’s do this! I am ready for your comments! Pretty soon, we’ll all be so rich from our Medium earnings we won’t have to ask:
We’ll just go out and buy ourselves all the breakfasts we want! #goals
