Actor, playwright and producer, Executive producer left his mark on the universe

With Colon Cancer, like a hero, he lived and died
Touch the hearts of many globally with gentleness
His reach from eternity will always be adored
For the gift God gave him, he did share with all
On and off screen, strove to make lives better
From the young to the old, his story goes
Visited beds of young lives touched by cancer
While fighting his own battle, thought of others
While he brought a smile, to many sick kids
Off screen a great humanitarian with strength
On screen, magnetic, charismatic, and iconic
A trailblazer with a smile that melted hearts
Whose touch was soother and softer than cotton
All the while raging the war within his body
Through surgeries, chemotherapy he never stopped
Four years, never wavered, strove to make a difference
Each step of the way, everyday and in any way
As an actor, full throttle gave Jackie Robinson his due
Being James brown, Thurgood Marshall, the same was true
Then along came Black Panther, King T”Challa, the world amazed
Watching him on the big screen, bigger than life, kept all in a daze
Onto Da 5 Bloods, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, no time to waste
For only he knew what war his body raged, must make haste
A Howard University graduate, born in South Carolina
Followed his dream, his talent to theater and television
Breaking out role, 2013, “42”, Jackie Robinson he played
Onto 2014, co-starred “Draft Day” his mark he laid
While flying high on a promotional European tour
Got the call for “Black Panther” the sky was the limit
The first black superhero the world would come to love
He floated across worldwide screens like a precious dove
Radiated charisma, joy and talent, never to be forgotten
Many worthy Oscar performance, was his claim to fame
Strength, talented, kindness, powerful, was his game
All stamped on a legacy, that went before him
“Avengers: Infinity War”, “Captain America-Civil War”
Avengers”, “Endgame”, “Message from the King”,
“Marshall” and “21 Bridges” and others his credit rings
All stamped with a legacy, that now goes after him
Leaving many unwritten eulogy, noteworthy at best
For the man who lived life and lived with zest.
