Celebrating the Journey: From Homeless Child to the Beauty of Aging
In response to the Lifeline second-week prompt, Growing Old
Age gracefully as a testament to the strength and perseverance that carried you from despair to triumph.

My life story is an open book to everyone. If you have been following me on Medium and have read some of my personal stories of having a tough life as a young child.
Celebrating the Journey of Growing Old, The Poem
In the tender embrace of time, I’ve grown, From the shadows of destitution I’ve flown. A child once lost in a world so cold, Now I stand tall, with stories to be told.
A journey forged through trials and tears, Through nights of uncertainty and fears. From humble beginnings, I arose, Like a phoenix from ashes, life did compose.
Once a homeless soul, seeking a way, Now I bask in the sun’s golden rays. A life built on sweat, courage, and grace, Each wrinkle is a memory, a map of my space.
The mirror reflects the years like art, Etched on my face, a roadmap of my heart. Eyes that have witnessed the darkest of nights, Now shimmer with wisdom, like distant starlights.
I’ve tasted the bitterness of sorrow’s cup, But also the sweetness as dreams erupted. Hand in hand with time, I’ve learned to dance, Embracing each moment, and taking a chance.
The laughter of youth echoes in my ear, A melody of innocence, so clear. Though my steps might falter, my spirit’s strong, For life’s vibrant symphony, I still belong.
The tapestry is woven, threads of the past, A mosaic of memories, forever to last. With every new sunrise, a chapter unfurls, In the book of my life, a gem among pearls.
So, as the sun sets on this wondrous stage, I find solace in the stories that age. For growing old isn’t about fading away, It’s about blossoming still, in a unique way.
With a heart full of gratitude, I now see The beauty of aging, the gift of being free. From a child in the cold to a soul that’s gold, I embrace growing old, a story to be told.

Thank you very much for reading.
