Donuts, Unicorns, and Zombie Lies
A handy Venn diagram self-assessment guide

As a public service, here is a simple chart that organizes our universe into its component parts:
- Responsibilities, duties, and pleasures of daily life
- Current events that demand the appropriate response in order to avoid economic, social and nuclear apocalypse.
- Imponderable questions that may merit a limited amount of thought but prove to be a waste of time if they dominate the reader’s waking life.
- The overcrowding of Medium with an endless stream of self-help, start-up and personal development posts that serve no purpose other than to further the writers’ personal agenda.
- Sensationalist news stories, gossip, blogs, trending social media videos, political propaganda and zombie lies
- Claims made by Donald Trump and other select politicians
Simply locate the subject you’re unsure about to determine if it is actionable, thought provoking, ignorable, or just plain bat sh*t crazy.
[UPDATE: Gutbloom’s sighting — 1988 at Dedham, MA — reminded me to include another rare and equally wild type of claim, now noted in the revised Venn diagram above. As a counterbalance to this fantasy, I present the ultimate test of reality, the sprinkle donut, aka “rain” in alternate Simpson dimensions.]
