Noodle Prompt / lower case, upper case
Caring or caring?
a poem of contrasts
Five days hospitalized — not a card or a bouquet, not an email, call, or text.
One day in surgery — not a card or a bouquet, not an email, call, or text.
Caring was absent, compassion was missing, humanity was lacking.
Until . . .
You needed me, my expertise for what you refuse to learn.
My knowledge for what you can’t be bothered to research —
Clicking help, too bothersome, Googling, too challenging, bothering me, easy.
But, must show you care — not Care, as in real concern, but care, as in I need something from you.
Are you feeling better? Hope you’re healing. I care.
Your empathy is underwhelming, your concern is nonexistent, your caring is not Caring . . .
At least not for me, cause it’s all about you and you is them,
Because it’s not just one, one wouldn’t hurt so much, one wouldn’t inspire a poem
About Caring and caring — about not Caring — it’s a group shunning,
I thought work was personal, that co-workers were friends, I was deceived or stupid.
Don’t bother with that last paragraph on the email begging for help, the false words of caring,
I am feeling better, I am healing, And, you don’t Care.
