Cancelling Cancel Culture Could Save the Human Race (From Being Stupid)
Chris Pratt is only the beginning, get ready to cancel Christmas over on-screen bullying in the 60's

This issue has gone way beyond Chris Pratt, folks. There’s no forgiveness anymore. We go straight from loving you and wanting your movies so bad, to tying you to a wall and shooting rocket launchers at you. That’s because humans are becoming stupider.
I am unable to see how death threats against Mr. Pratt are making the world a better place. Does the downfall of his reputation gain any ground whatsoever for groups that are being discriminated against? It seems more like just a big waste of our attention spans.
I’m sorry, everyone, but if you need to jump on bandwagons, lets go after the real bad guys. Remember Santa, the big mean boss who let bullying and favoritism exist in his North Pole factory? We all the know the story of how one reindeer was different, so therefore he was an outcast. Remember how, even after televised footage, we all just let him get away with it? No longer. We need to boycott that loser. It doesn’t matter that it was 60 years ago. Immortals like him need to be taught a lesson!
What about his crazed need to sneak into people’s homes while they sleep and leave creepy “gifts”? The guy is stalking the entire human race and people actually support this red and white clown? Any affiliation with the costumed weirdo from this time on will end up with a Twitter campaign against you that will be legendary, even in hell.
Not only will there be no Christmas, but we are going to be boycotting the Easter Bunny too. His nasty business of boiling chicken eggs and coloring their ova, only to spread the bodies out on the ground to be treated like decorations. I’m sure you see why this disrespectful practice can’t be supported by anyone- unless you want us to cancel you too.
Does everyone know what an actor is?
An actor is someone who adopts or portrays a character in a movie, play, television show, commercial, or other entertainment. They “act” like someone they are not. Their personal character is rumored to be separate from their professional lives, much like my work life is separate from my personal life.
Good actors get more work because people enjoy their performance.
When I watch a movie like The Avengers, I suspend disbelief and pretend that Tony Stark is a real person. Sometimes I really hate that guy. Robert Downey Jr. is the actor who plays Tony Stark. I don’t give two poops about what Robert Downey Jr. is like in the real world, because he was hired to act. He’s doing a good job of Starking. He deserves to be treated with respect for that, no matter what else he does with his life. As long as he isn’t going out of his way to harm anyone, then I’m happy.
Chris Pratt doesn’t seem to be going out of way to harm anyone. What are his sins? He wore a shirt without considering the ramifications of “don’t tread on me” and what that could allude to, and maybe didn’t mean to make a political statement or cause uproar. He goes to a church that some say is questionable because it might not be all inclusive. As far as we can tell, this church isn’t calling anyone names or taking any actions against individuals.
He gave away his senior cat instead of keeping her when she became incontinent. Having lived with dogs who got so old they couldn’t hold their pee, I completely understand how hard this can be.
So, does he actively cause harm? It doesn’t seem like it. To my knowledge, he hasn’t made any inflammatory statements against anyone, or said anything racist, or sexually assaulted anyone. He hasn’t even pleasured himself on a Zoom meeting with his fellow Avengers when he thought he was muted (that we know of).
He seems to be harmless. His attackers, however, seem to be harmful.
They are hurting the very fabric of society by focusing on issues like this and creating an atmosphere of rudeness and disrespect. They are dumbing us down.
When I go to my job and put in an excellent effort with good results, I expect to get rewarded for the work and shown respect based on that. As long as I am respectful of others and a team player, I should be able to co-exist with everyone.
But what if somehow it came out that I read the whole bible (including the old testament) and believed it (this is hypothetical), and because of that I was laid off the next week? Assuming that I didn’t talk about it at work, and left it in my private life where it belonged. Then it was dug up by some weasel and spread around in an anonymous email.
I hold nothing against nature weasels, but I don’t like human weasels very much. There are weasels in every group of people. For example, one of the main groups of people I belong to, white male North American, is loaded with weasels. But so are all the other groups. ALL the other groups.
If we have to question everyone about their worthiness before we can accept their work, then the world becomes very complicated. So much needs to be cancelled.
Every time I pull up to the drive-through at Mcdonald’s, do I need to worry about the political affiliation of the girl who takes my money? Is she anti LGBTQ+? Does she go to the “wrong” church? Stop the show, folks. I’m going to a different drive-through. This loser needs to be taught a lesson.
Did Mcdonald’s hire that person knowing who they were? Then they go on the cancel chopping block too. There’s no forgiveness for this kind of flawed, deal breaker inability to exactly match my beliefs and thinking. If I don’t take a stand, I’m not voting with my dollars!
When I go to Amazon online and I see a flashy book cover followed by a fascinating description, do I need to stop and research the author before buying to see that they exactly match what I think an author should be? Do they have to agree with me on all major talking points, or else? Do they believe in saving the environment and reducing waste like I do?
If they chose Star Wars over Star Trek, then I’m out. Ridiculous and close minded this is, as Yoda would say while shaking his green, wrinkly head.
My mom used to go to a church that I personally disagree with (true story). They are considered a cult by many “real” Christians and dismissed as magical thinkers by most of the world . Do I need to cancel all future visits until she renounces them? Even though she never once tried to force her beliefs on me?
How about the music of Kurt Cobain? I totally disagree with his entire philosophical outlook on birds, and what it says about his deep underlying beliefs. Yet, I manage to support his work and memory by enjoying the occasional Nirvana song, despite our widely different viewpoints and substance use histories.
Forget compassion, we need intelligence
It would be great if everyone had compassion and empathy and forgiveness, but a lot of people don’t. All I’m asking for is intelligence, and maybe that is way too much to ask.
When someone is actively discriminating against a group, that is a problem that we all need to address. But if they just simply aren’t supporting that group through inactivity, then that’s their choice. It might not be the choice that some hoped for, but how can that be an unforgivable inaction?
If we want to have things like movies and books and fast food and human society, then we have to allow people to have differing beliefs. All the best stuff is created by messed up people like you and me. They might have closets full of skeletons, they might be in that closet, or they might be out saying dumb things in public that we don’t agree with. So am I honestly supposed to believe that these Chris Pratt haters only support upstanding, perfect people and corporations and never, ever, ever make mistakes or offend anyone?
Yeah, right.
