Caffeine pandemic: people are becoming zombies
We have moms who are drinking 5–10 coffees a day.
Gymgoers that take 400mg as pre-workout.
College students who take Redbull to stay awake.
Caffeine is becoming a problem in society.
Look, one or two coffees a day isn’t a big deal breaker.
But people nowadays are taking 200mg to even 400mg a day!
People don’t realize what this is doing with their health.
They take it without knowing the side effects.
That’s why in this story, I will tell you the side effects of caffeine and what it can do to your health.
Sleep
Sleep is a big factor in feeling energized throughout the day.
But we don’t need sleep, we have caffeine!
Sleep is for the weak, caffeine will keep me going!
Josh, everyone knows sleep is necessary.
You feel awake throughout the day, but your health is declining.
caffeine will make your sleep:
- Terrible! You go later to bed, wake up earlier and your deep/slow-wave sleep is ruined.
- Less satisfied, waking up will feel like a hangover.
Also, studies show:
- Caffeine consumption reduces a person’s total sleep time by 45 minutes and sleep efficiency by 7%.
- Also, caffeine may not completely clear your bloodstream until after 10 hours.
Long-term side effects
I have seen people suffer from the amount of caffeine they take in a day.
So that’s the reason I created this post.
I want you to have insight into what caffeine can do to your body.
This post could have taken you an hour to read, but I decided to keep it short and “sweet”.
So here are the side effects…
- Anxiety
- Trouble sleeping
- Ulcers
- Osteoporosis
- Irritability and headaches
- Dizziness
- Ears ringing
- Uncontrollable shaking
- Weakness and tiredness
- Rapid or irregular heartbeat
- Fast breathing
- Lack of appetite
- Nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea
- Sudden thirst
- Low blood pressure
- Seizures
- Confusion
Different options
Look, I am not saying I never drunk a Redbull in my life. Athletes can use it to their advantage and you might use it to improve your focus.
What I am trying to say is overconsumption of caffeine will ruin your health.
Apart from caffeine, Redbull has 27 grams of sugar in it!
So if you need caffeine, drink a black cup of coffee.
And for pre-workout, take a spoonful of honey with Himalayan salt.
