Broken Wings

Including Poetic Music Video ‘Stardust’

Source

My wings are broken from yesterday’s flight. I’m closing my eyes with light, say goodbye and dream a forgotten smile of the lost moment, back under our fig tree.

I see in the dead reed at the edge of the fen a swan with a crippled wing. She performed her dance to the world who left her without embarrassment. What will remain of her fight in this exceptionally cruel winter cold?

Still, she feels that somewhere behind spring windows a summer child is waiting for new cheerfulness. She may be bruised, but not broken, knowing she might open her wings again. A different form of swing, her beat with a little pain, perhaps a wounded happiness.

I stay a while to give her courage, leaving her company with hesitation to the blind prospect of this new year’s resolution. Time moves me forward to a new tomorrow, lost in my hopes, meandering home. Will she still be standing there? Our fig tree in our forsaken garden?

Stay safe and be well! 💕
