Breaking News: Famous Person Says Something that Some Twitter Users Find Offensive
“This is literally the worst thing that could possibly happen,” says someone

It was early this morning when the shocking news broke.
Somebody famous had said something that somebody found offensive. It was probably a comedian because they usually say the most offensive things.
The first person to get offended immediately took to Twitter to vent their rage.
“How dare he say this? I’m outraged! And for that he should be killed!”
Within five minutes, this got a million likes and hundreds of thousands of supportive comments and retweets. Within twenty minutes, the hashtag #KillAllOffensiveFamousPeople was trending.
In the UK, where it happened, people were demanding the government do something. By late morning, Prime Minister Boris Johnson held a press conference.

“Good morning everyone. I was devastated to hear the news this morning that some people on Twitter were upset. But I want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with the families of those most offended.”
“What are you going to do about it?” shouted someone from the assembled crowd.
“I can assure you that the British Government takes this sort of thing extremely seriously.”
“Yes, but what are you actually going to do about it?”
“We are going to be conducting a thorough investigation to find out exactly what happened. I predict this will take about three months. But afterwards, the report will be available for everyone to read. With the crucial details removed, of course.”
“And in the meantime? What if I get offended by someone while walking home this afternoon?”
“Yes, very good point. In the meantime we will be imposing a Humour Lockdown. That means that, effective immediately, nobody is allowed to tell any jokes. We predict this will only be for three weeks. Our scientific advisors tell us we only need three weeks to flatten the Offence Curve. After that, we will conduct a review, and act accordingly, based on the science. We hope that soon people can start to cautiously begin telling jokes again, as long as they remain two metres apart and wear face masks. But eventually, we may have to find a way of living with the risk of being offended.”
“Yeah, but what if I am offended by other people being offended?” shouts someone else.
“Well, yes, of course we have to take everyone into consideration. We are hoping we can soon develop a vaccine for offence. Ideally, the vaccine will make a person immune to being offended AND immume to being offended by people being offended.”
“What if I don’t want the vaccine?”
“Well, that’s your free choice. We will never make the Offence Vaccine compulsory. But if you refuse to have the jab, you will not be allowed on Twitter or any other social media platform. We cannot have the unvaccinated spoiling it for the rest of us by getting offended by everything all the time. It’s not fair on those who have had the vaccine and want to go about their lives unoffended.”
