“Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on sayings to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.”

― Mahatma Gandhi

I discovered affirmations and gratitude about twenty years ago, and it is the best prescription for self-doubt, negative self-talk and general unhappiness.

When we always look for the good in our life through gratitude, we will always feel blessed and happy.

Affirmation and Gratitude

I am Strong I am Good I am Calm All is well

I am grateful for the roof over my head I am thankful for my warm bed I am grateful for hot water to shower in I am grateful for freshly prepared meals, from the feasts to the quickies.

I am fortunate I am lucky Life is good to me

Even when it seems all is not the way it should be

But, still, there is so much in my life that I give full thanks.

I discovered affirmations and gratitude about twenty years ago, and it is the best prescription for self-doubt, negative self-talk and general unhappiness.

When we always look for the good in our life through gratitude, we will always feel blessed and happy.

Your Affirmation and Gratitude Prescription is:

  • Write (pen and paper) your list twenty minutes before you sleep.
  • In the first ten minutes of waking up (keep your journal next to your bed — and your first act is your gratitude and affirmations, then get on with your day).
  • And a couple of times in the middle of the day.

How long for? The rest of your life.

Result:

You become content, calm, and balanced. You trust yourself, love yourself, become quietly confident, emotionally balanced, resilient, feel safe, and know yourself better.

What is an Affirmation?

I am sure you know what an Affirmation is; the world does. Nevertheless, I will share my view on affirmations.

An Affirmation is an ‘I AM’ statement in most cases. It helps us build our positive self-talk and rewire our brains, to be positive.

It does not contain the words like ‘NOT’, ‘Won’t’, or anything negative. It must be entirely Positive.

To be impactful, affirmations must be repeated, using pen and paper, I like to create a sentence or two, write it out as lines seven times, and do this three times a day — for as long as it takes to break the negative self-talk.

Why is nothing negative? Affirmations can manifest. The brain doesn’t understand Not, Don’t, Won’t. So it will give you what you don’t want.

For example, I won’t eat sugar. The brain sees: I eat sugar. Leading us to eat more sugar. A potential Affirmation you could use: I am wise, I make healthy choices, and I am eating well each day. I can do this.

What to be Grateful for?

Be grateful for the big, medium, and tiniest things in your life.

Parting Thought

“Your beliefs become your thoughts, Your thoughts become your words, Your words become your actions, Your actions become your habits, Your habits become your values, Your values become your destiny.”

Mahatma Gandhi

I believe true success in life is when I am happy and content, have inner peace, and can ride the storms of life and still find a beautiful lesson to learn from the pain. I walk in my lane, respectful to all, undisturbed by none.

Every day is an opportunity to improve on what I was yesterday, and each baby step forward is my success.

I am forever a Work In Progress but always IN PROGRESS. There can be no better way to be me than to be learning, growing, contemplating and transforming myself into a better version every day. What a Joy Life is when I sculpt my life in His Divine presence when I master myself.
