“Bonnie Screws Up” — A Fun & Authentic Audio Drama Series

Welcome to the world of audio dramas, or as some call it, fiction podcast series.

I had just learned about their existence when an executive producer from Aural Stories, an audio drama production company, approached me back in 2021.

They requested me to pitch them a story that has the potential to become an ongoing, hit audio drama series.

As a screenwriter, my experience has been in the visual platform of films, movies, web series, and TV series, but I was excited to dive deeper into the world of audio dramas.

After listening to many audio dramas and going through the unproduced TV series I created or the ideas I noted down, I chose two concepts that fit the company’s genre, target audience, and expectations.

Aural Stories chose “Bonnie Screws Up.”

Bonnie Martinez is a talented actress who’s starring in a popular mystery web series called Special Cases. She’s torn between the career plan her manager has designed and her desire for a life away from the cameras.

And maybe a relationship with a regular guy like the cute bartender Bonnie has been stalking on social media for over three months, Duante Smith.

All it takes is some liquid courage after another failed date with a Hollywood producer for Bonnie to screw up in a completely unplanned way: she breaks her Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) for Special Cases.

Bonnie is now in a race to fix her mistake before it costs her everything.

Season 1 of the audio drama series “Bonnie Screws Up” has 8 episodes produced by Aural Stories, written and directed by me.

“Bonnie Screws Up” captures the realities of Hollywood and the experiences of international artists from all over the world who move here to “make it.”

This story is authentic, exciting, and full of heart.

This show is a dream come true for me due to its diverse cast from different countries and various accents, which is what I always wanted to do.

Representation, authenticity, and diversity are the most important things for me as a storyteller and filmmaker.

The talented actress who plays the main character Bonnie Martinez in the show is a friend of mine, who I knew would be perfect for the role as an actress from Spain herself.

Her accent is beautiful and real, as well as all the other talented cast members who give life to these authentic characters.

“Bonnie Screws Up” got renewed for a Season 2!

I gotta be honest; I wasn’t sure if it would get renewed, but that’s why there was a huge cliffhanger at the end of Season 1. And it worked!

The listeners were asking for a Season 2, and Aural Stories was ready for it!
