boa

a poem

Photo by Hassan Pasha on Unsplash

the boa sleeps coiled at my spine dreaming waiting for me the boa yawns and swallows me whole she moves and rises circling up my spine she has awakened I have awakened she breathes her breath through me she is me I am her the boa is creation yet she destroys she is madness and chaos and cosmic unconditional love she slithers and dances cleans and clears she is intelligence profound healing raw she may suffocate with her knowledge her teachings ruthless her methods unrelenting her insight unbelievable until you know her and then your life will forever change

Inspired by this baby rainbow boa that snuck up behind me when I was sitting on the ground:

author’s photo, in the Amazon in Peru

Thanks to Pablo Pereyra for asking me to write about this.
