Is Blow Your Stack the right Pub for you?
‘Blow Your Stack’ is a space to rant and rave about *almost anything. If something winds you up, we want to hear it expressed in the wittiest, funniest, most entertaining way possible.
This isn’t a place for lengthy, serious, academic activist polemics — Keep it light, keep it fun but make sure to leave a lasting impression on the reader.
No subject is off-limits and trivial topics are encouraged as much, if not more than weightier topics, but by all means, give us the big issues. As long as it complies with Medium’s standards and guidelines, it will be considered here. Considered doesn’t always equate to published. We reserve the right to decline submissions that don’t align with our goal of providing entertainment to our readers.

To keep the page clean, we will publish a maximum of 3 pieces per day, and there will be a limit of one piece per writer per day (unless of course you get lucky and there are no other pieces in the queue).
Note: Blow Your Stack will not be publishing ‘Medium Meta’ or rants about the platform moving forward, this is a blanket rule that will be applied from March 2022.
The guidelines are simple enough:
- Submissions must have a properly formatted title, subtitle and include an appropriately credited header image.
- Submissions must adhere to all of Medium’s standard guidelines.
- Submissions must be your original work; plagiarism will not be tolerated.
- All sources or quotes must be appropriately referenced.
- Unpublished drafts only.
- Run your work through Grammarly (or similar) before submitting it. We will provide very basic editing and feedback, the rest is the author’s responsibility, and we will reject work that doesn’t meet these quality standards.
- Pieces must use the tags rant, rave or vent. The other tags are up to you.
- Clickbait titles should be avoided.

Turnaround
Once you’ve been added as a writer, allow up to 48 hours for your piece to be published. We will endeavour to respond to rejected pieces within 5 working days; however, if you have not had a response in this time, you can assume your piece has not been accepted and may publish it elsewhere.
