Blossoms and Storms

“Stormy Weather!” Prompt

Photo by Stephen Hocking on Unsplash

Steam from fresh leaves Caress my cheeks I rub my eyes Trying hard not to fall back into sleep

Then, it shakes me… a lightning strike I counted two or three in the darkest night and morning light

And I realize these storms always seem to reflect the spirit in me

My arms reaching out like veins of light against purple skies My thunderous stomps of confidence break toxic ties Rain and hail refresh my perseverance open my eyes

Visiting me when I feel afraid, unsure, and empty Reaching out when I’m certain, blossoming, and happy A beautiful, maddening storm This stormy weather Cold and warm

Thanks for reading! And thanks to James Finn for the prompt!

This story is a response to Prism & Pen’s writing prompt Stormy Weather!
