Black Women Appreciation!
My tribute to black women all over the world!

“Even if it makes others uncomfortable, I will love who I am.” - Janelle Monáe
It’s about time we give black women the credit they deserve. I’m talking about black women in the past and present. As they say, it’s better to give roses while they can still smell them.
We know the names of Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama, and Kamala Harris, but everyday women have also been getting it done.
Let’s forget about the old stereotypes about black women being “strong” and “tough.” It’s time we start using other adjectives to describe them such as intelligent, resilient, courageous, dependable, and loyal.
Black women have been overlooked for far too long in politics, the job market, health care, and other areas of society.
They face the same discrimination (if not more) as black men but have found success despite it.
With the retirement announcement of Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, news resurfaced that President Biden would name a black woman as his successor.
This caused controversy as many still aren’t ready to see a black woman in a position of such prestige.
All of the women who are in the running are extremely qualified. It’s time that a black woman serves on the Supreme Court and be able to represent a population that is always overlooked.
Black women are also among the most educated demographic in the country. This speaks volumes as they also represent the highest rate of single mothers by race in the U.S.
The ability to succeed despite being put in incredibly tough situations is what black women have been doing for a very long time.
According to findings compiled in a study by the National Center For Education Statistics, Black women have been obtaining degrees at a consistently high rate for the last eight years and counting.
By both race and gender, the study also shows that Black women are enrolled in college at a higher percentage than any other group including white women, Asian women, and white men.
In the black community, black women have always been the backbone. They hold families together and inspire all of us to push forward despite our circumstances.
I want to take the time to say Thank You, to black women all over the world. No matter what circumstance you are in, you always hold it down.
You are an inspiration to men and women all over the world. I hope and pray that others will take notice of your efforts and that you start getting the credit you deserve.
