Birds
DAY 4 of the challenge from Janis Cox

The birds in our yard are truly thankful. But mostly to hubs.
Because hubs should be called the “BIRD whisperer”.
Matthew 6:26 says: Look at the birds…they don’t sow or reap or gather the food that they find into a barn. (LU’s translation)
— Especially in our yard! —
Yet your Heavenly Father feeds them (from the hand of hubs!) are we not more valuable than the birds?

Hubs enjoys the birds that are on loan to us from God.
There are so many Western Goldfinch birds that show up day and night to eat mass quantities of Nyjer seeds. The seeds are very small, skinny and black seeds. The birds eat them so fast that hubs refills their feeders…sometimes with my help.
Hubs keeps Amazon busy…let’s just say hubs and Alexa are even “tighter friends” as she reminds him to purchase seeds with a “daily special” price at least every other week.

He also feeds wild birdseed to the doves, sparrows, and the “whoevs” that show up daily. I have no idea what some of those birds are, so I call them “Whoevs”.
Sometimes this also includes squirrels and bunnies that get anything that falls onto the ground.
This is one of the old books that hubs has that tells about the Western Goldfinch.

Genesis 1:20 says that God wanted the birds to “fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens.”
It’s always so much fun seeing flocks of wild parrots flying overhead … or the flocks of geese heading over to the nearby lake.
Seeing that makes me stop and remember that birds are God's creatures, and they are an amazing blessing to behold.
Whenever a bird stops by our yard, they’re bound to get something good to eat.
We even have a few fancy birdbath areas with fountains inside them that provide a shower. Some of the fountains have colorful lights that change colors too.

It’s become some sort of wild bird “Vegas style” entertainment and dining area for birds! ⏬

Totally kidding.
But who knows what the birds think?
I do know that they are happy with the food and drinks and entertainment we provide them. The food keeps them strong and safe from hawks and other predators. And it’s all from God’s supply (and hubs thoughtfulness too).
We can learn a lot from birds.
They seem strong and resourceful to me.
They seem to appreciate when they’re blessed with rare seeds.
They wait their turn when it comes to “who’s next” …
They even know how to line up and wait properly.
They like to take quick baths and/or showers … with or without lights! No wastage of water here!

The birds sent this letter to hubs the other day and so I am sharing it to all and also to hubs:
Dear sir,
We don’t know you very well, but we really do love you. You seem to always refill the empty feeders just when we need it most. (Your female helper is nice too) … you always clean out our bird baths when they are clogged and since you installed the showers we can’t seem to get enough of that fun “happening” place. Especially with the crazy light features! This is our OFFICIAL Thank You note to let you know that we think God sent you here to feed us and keep us safe and that we think YOU are a gift to us.
We all love you…
Signed,
The Western Goldfinches, the Doves, The Blue Jays, The Sparrows, The Chickadees, The Squirrels, The Rabbits, and last but not least the “Whatevs”.
Thank you for reading this continued “challenge” from
