Do You Like a Challenge? Join Me for Six Days in a Writer’s Challenge
It’s not tough. You only need discipline to find 15 minutes a day

When you have crossed the Jordan into the land the Lord your God is giving you, set up some large stones and coat them with plaster. Write on them all the words of this law when you have crossed over to enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, promised you. (Deuteronomy 27:2–3, NIV, emphasis added)
How important is writing down God’s Word? Very important. This got me thinking that I need to write more.
When I first started to write, I wrote to prompts
I joined a group called Five-Minute Friday. We were to write for 5 minutes. That’s all. And post on our blogs. It was fun. It was challenging. And lo and behold, it is still ongoing. Join her. I might join her, too. Hurrah.
I think I need a writing challenge
I did a painting challenge, and over 100 days, with a break in the middle, I painted a picture of a bird. I now have 100 bird pictures.
A challenge needs others to join it to be the best.
I can challenge myself, but I would love others to be with me.
The challenge
Write for six days in a row. Short. Long. In-between. I would also challenge you to “write” not “type”, if you can. Research has found that typing, as I am doing now, does not build the connections in our brains that writing with a pen can do.
Handwriting is a multi-sensory activity. As you form each letter, your hand shares information with language processing areas in your brain. As your eyes track what you’re writing, you engage in these areas. (edited from an article called, “The Unexpected Connection Between Handwriting and Reading.”)
These are the prompts
Flowers, Building, Trees, Bird, Paths, and Rocks
Or scriptures to go with these topics.
Flowers — Luke 12:27, Matthew 6:28–29, 1 Corinthians 3:7
Building — Luke 14:28, 1 Corinthians 3:9
Trees — Psalm 1:3, Psalm 52:8, Proverbs 15:4, Genesis 1:29
Birds — Matthew 6:26, Genesis 1:20, Isaiah 40:31
Paths — Proverbs 4:26, Proverbs 3:6
Rocks — Matthew 16:18, 1 Samuel 2:2, Exodus 17:6
Write on the word, or write on the scripture, or do both. Or choose to write six days on one word — that would be a challenge, wouldn’t it?
You might want to draw as well. I hope to paint and write. But quick ones — 15 minutes unless I get so excited that I can’t stop painting or writing.
There is no time limit on my challenge.
We are writing to a prompt.
The challenge will start anytime you want. I hate to set a date for you. When you join and write post number one, tag me at Janis Cox. I’ll try to keep up with those who join me. Please use the Kicker six day tribe or use it as one of your topics six day tribe. I will search and find your submission.
I hope to see at least ONE person join me. I think this will be fun.
Leave a comment, if you think you would like this challenge.
May I pray for you and me?
Heavenly Father, please lead those who want to kick-start their writing to join me in this challenge. May we hear Your Words. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
