Readers: I reiterate my belated apology for not responding to your comments all these months. As I feared, I’ve missed notifications as far back as January (if not before — I don’t wanna go there). I’ve scrolled the bell display back through April and read all the comments I’d missed, of which there were dozens.

The process of scanning backward in the list is tedious, so I’ve changed my approach. I am now reading comments in my January stories so as to home in on the earliest instance of which I neglected to reply (so far, January 23). This will pinpoint the date on which I’d stopped checking the bell for comment notifications, under the assumption that I would get all of them via email. Wrong! (I got enough to keep me from suspecting the system was awry.)

Rather than continue flooding you with tiresome mea culpas, I shall, at my leisure, simply read and revel in the comments I missed, replying only to queries and to lengthy responses indicative of extensive engagement.

For the last time: sorry!
