Best Practices to Follow When Working From Home
Are you working from home? This is a must-read for you
In my last article, I spoke about stress management at home which is required at utmost priority currently as a lot of people are under mental turmoil due to the corona pandemic. Some have lost their jobs, or business is badly impacted , others are crushed under excessive workload which has disturbed the working balance of the entire world.
Some people who have adopted this lifestyle are already stressed with a thought that someday they have to start going to the office and it will be difficult for them to cope.
The majority of the world’s population is currently practicing work from home as a precautionary measure against the virus, which has affected a lot on their health as the full day they are in front of Laptop, improper diets and little to no workout which has resulted in frustration, stress and lot of indirect damage to health.
Below are some best practices to follow while working from home
1. Location
Location and atmosphere play a very important role in your work efficiency. Make sure to place yourself near a window and work on a proper study table, with a diary and a calendar, if possible try to place some flowers on the tabletop. They help as stress relievers.
2. Posture
Your posture while working is very important, keeping a straight back and head straight can help you with a better attentive mind rather than seating casually on a couch. The mind usually helps us with ideas when the energy in the body is streamlined which will help you in staying active.
3. Social distancing from Family and Pets in working hours
I agree with the fact that work from home is a blessing for most people to spend time with their families but do not blend family and work together, try to stay isolated in a room while working, and do not allow your children and pets to enter in a room until you are at work. You can always come out and share a snack or a meal with them and post working hours spend full time with them.

4. Clothing
Something most people completely ignore during work from home is clothing, working in a T-shirt and shorts might be very comfortable but I recommend working with smart casuals to get that positive fresh energy and with proper grooming your self-confidence gets a boost up subconsciously.
5. Take Small breaks
Yes, work is very important but so is your health. Your body should be your first love, sometimes during our tedious schedules, we tend to forget the basic necessity of the body.
Set a reminder in the Cell phone or on a sticky note above your work station which will keep you reminded about drinking water, using the restroom, frequent eyewash, and stretching of the neck.
6. Exercise Daily
This one might sound very basic but yes you need to start working out because in the job there will be some forms of stress haunting you and with regular exercise of body and mind you can relax and rejuvenate, keeping the mind relaxed.

7. Eat Healthy
Try eating foods that are low in carbs during lunchtime so you don’t feel sleepy and can efficiently work during daytime post-lunch, which is the most difficult time to concentrate on work.
Eating fruits like strawberry, orange with meals can help you to stay more active and if possible try a vegetarian diet for a week. You will notice a lot of behavioral changes also, keep detox water while working to stay refreshed calmly, and composed the entire day.

Thank you
Above are some of the points which we should take care of while working from home as this is the new normal and we should at no cost compromise with our health, so let’s start practicing them from today onwards and make these habits our lifestyle. Thank you for staying with me on this journey.
