Best Of February 2024
Monthly superlatives, as suggested 😉
As the year slowly picks up speed, I’m reminded that little rewards along the way make a big difference. Even if they’re silly.
Maybe especially when they’re silly.
I hereby begin the monthly tradition of Monster Alley’s superlative bestowment. Each month, those that have written in our publication get recognized for the stories they’ve contributed. And while the superlatives mean virtually nothing in the grand scheme of things, I urge everyone to take my appreciation to heart — thank you, all, for being part of Monster Alley in February 2024!
Without further ado, here are last month’s storytellers:
eternallymortal — Writer of the Month
Nominated by Sturg, mortal takes the first of many superlative titles in advance of his article, mortal’s Media Maelstrom. This new tradition kicked off with an intention to bully him into writing more — and he did! Mission successful! His maelstrom piece was well worth the prod. 😉
The Sturg — Most Proliferate Writer
I mean, good Lord have you seen him? He wrote an article for every single prompt in the month of February. Yeesh! So much! I mean, I guess I did, too, but his stories were a lot longer. One was even 16 minutes! While they all have their own charm, one of my favs was about his 6th grade spelling bee. Give it a read, and decode the mystery hidden within!
I also nominate him for “Pub Savior,” as it was his idea to start doing daily prompts. Thank you so much, Sturg, for all your help! We’ll all understand if you take a break — though given your writing history, this might be the beginning of a new writing wave for you!
You Good? — Best Non-writer Writer
Though she claims she isn’t actually a writer, You Good? does a great job of appealing to the writer’s spirit. Whatever title or job description she accepts for her written words, a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet — and I look forward to reading more of those words.
Also could be a candidate for “Most Likely To Be A Writer,” given the circumstances.
E.A. Colquitt — Most Loyal Monster
Honestly, this award is months overdue. She helped hold down the Alley during some low and silent times. Through the holidays, her Watery Wednesdays were sometimes the only posts going up. It’s because of her that we even still have a pub! She could also tack on “Pub Defender,” as without her I may have closed out the Alley altogether.
Her stream of consciousness article was a hidden gem, I highly recommend checking it out.
Ludiane de Brocéliande — Most Enigmatic Writer
I scoured through the pub for my favorite of Ludiane’s articles. It’s about kindness, and is a heartwarming read. But scrolling across their profile page, I realized most of the stories contain small fragments of Ludiane — little bits scattered across all Medium. Only when the stories are read can it piece together the person behind the words. How mysterious! I’m hoping Monster Alley can house more of those pieces as the puzzle expands.
Also carries the superlative “Most Likely To Post In French,” if there wasn’t enough mystery to be had!
And, of course, I’m the most accidental monster. 😉
Join in the writing fun for March and get your very own superative!
