A heron haunting

A siege of herons land – each cry a spear aflame. Surrender to solo soaring. Free rein.

Synchronicity — gotta love it!
First it was Vic Spandrio’s lovely poem, mentioning how a group of herons is a siege.
The Muse was afire. A siege of herons — this is our spark for Carolyn Hastings’ American cinquain/poemorama poetry celebration!
I wasn’t sure, but then later — while reading Heartbreak: A Personal and Scientific Journey by Florence Williams — I encountered more herons.
‘If Heron has come wading across your path, it is time to look deeper into aspects of your life that will show you how to become self-reliant,’ she read. ‘A heron signifies your ability to explore.’
Enough said. I won’t look into eharmony or silver singles quite yet.
Thank you, team at Paper Poetry — Carolyn Hastings, Suntonu Bhadra, and Indubala Kachhawa — for the home for my pep talk with my skittish solo soul.
Thank you, dearest readers, for your company. I treasure it. Love.
