Being Vulnerable
Nature gives enough cues for getting vulnerable: “December Freestyle”
Being vulnerable is precursor to growth
We were on a jungle safari, closely watching a stag. He had full-grown beautiful antlers branching off in different ways. And in a spur of the moment, it happened as he spurted out. Dang! the antlers just fell off.
The deer sheds his antlers every year. A peacock sheds his beautiful plumes every year. A snake sheds his skin every year.
So what?
If a deer loses his antlers, he is vulnerable, his only defense mechanism is gone. If a peacock loses his plumes, he is vulnerable, he is no longer attractive to any peahen. If a snake molts, he is vulnerable, a handful of ants can eat him up.
Seems nature is giving a cue here, it is natural to be vulnerable.
We have come a long way in evolution, if we were still living in caves being vulnerable would have meant choosing between life and death. Now our lives are well-settled, safe, and sound. So what does being vulnerable mean for you and me?
Being vulnerable means coming out of your comfort zone, and signing up for the tough assignment which has always been put off for some other day.
Being vulnerable means going out and having that tough conversation to mend a broken relationship.
Being vulnerable means stopping worrying about how others are going to judge your life and doing what gives you meaning and happiness.
So next time be vulnerable, it is natural, it is evolutionary, and it is the only leeway for growth.
Thanks to Mary Chang Story Writer for allowing us a free hand for December.
The conclusion of November challenge by Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles is a mind blowing effort, kudos to Six Word team for the stellar work managing the pub.
