The website content introduces "Being Present," an acrostic poem that emphasizes the importance of mindfulness and being fully engaged with the present moment and the people around us. The poem, structured around the word "PRESENT," serves as a guide to practicing mindfulness by suggesting actions such as noticing one's surroundings, giving full attention to others, and embracing their stories with earnest awareness. Being present means being

Engaged

Interested

Noticing what’s around you, and

Giving your full attention to the

Person

Right next to you; and

Embracing their

Story with

Earnest awareness, and clearly

Not

Taking time out!

A few things inspired this poem.

First, the poem Twenty-Six Minutes of Thoughts by Lucy The Eggcademic (she/her) prompted me to get back into my morning journalling practice, which has slipped the last few months! Thank you, Lucy!

As I read Twenty-Six Minutes of Thoughts, I thought, “yeah, I can do that.”

Second, I recently wrote my first acrostic poem, I am a Writer, inspired by an acrostic poem prompt by Agnes Laurens when you woke up this morning, what was the first sentence you told yourself?

Feeling resourceful and keen to break the ice, I combined both prompts and wrote Being Present!

I hope you enjoy Being Present and it inspires you to pick up your pen and journal for twenty-six minutes when you wake up tomorrow morning!

Let me know how you get on.

And, if you’re not sure what to write about, check out this fun article by Julee Everett where she helps you celebrate your uniqueness and connect with your Spirit Muppet.

Once you’ve read What’s Your Spirit Muppet, set your timer for twenty-six minutes and write about how your inner-Muppet shows up in your life!

Happy journalling!
