Being Me

A Poem

The ant looked at the bee and wished it could fly. The bee looked at the ant and wished it could be so strong.

The sun looked at the moon and wished it could shine with the stars. The moon looked at the sun and wished it could brighten an entire day.

The river wished it could travel across the ocean. The ocean wished it could cascade down the mountain.

And I. I saw beauty in it all. And wished I could have the courage to be me.

This poem is written in response to Sahil Patel July's writing prompt “insecurities” for Lifeline publication.
