Hi, I’m Samantha (you can call me Sam), 33 years old, wife and mum of two from the UK (I live not far from London).

I started writing on Medium as I have always enjoyed writing. As an introverted child, I found solace in books. I find words fascinating and enjoy analysing the writing of others; digging deep to find out exactly why they chose the words that they did. Writing is an extremely cathartic experience and I have already learned things about myself after letting the words flow from my mind.

A number of things have stifled my creativity over the years; depression, anxiety, boredom, PTSD after a traumatic birth with my daughter, and sheer lack of time due to working 40+ hours a week and raising two children.

I have now decided to follow my passion. No. More. Excuses. I need to do this for me. The goal is to generate an income from my writing at some point, and eventually write full time (the thought of this fills me with so much excitement!), replacing my laborious job working in a warehouse.

In the meantime, I’m just really happy to have discovered Medium, and all you fine folk. It’s so refreshing to be among like-minded people and I’m enjoying the sense of community on the site.
