The Moon Circle
Be Like Water
Intentions and reminders for New Moon in Taurus April 2020

If you want to deal with the ever-changing world, be as pliable and yielding as water.
— Tao Te Ching
Though painful at times, change is the only constant. No one is a greater reminder of this than the moon herself.
The new moon tends to inspire us to want to start fresh. But, how do we start anew in these times, when so many are struggling to merely go on? When we don’t even know what’s waiting around the next corner?
As we begin to hear talk about returning to normal after the current crisis, another term comes up; the new normal.
But, what does normal mean in the first place? Moreover, how do we return to ‘it’, or define a new ‘it’ unless we can answer that question?
I can’t go on, I’ll go on.
―Samuel Beckett
As I contemplate my own inevitable return to how things used to be, I’m both anxious and excited. Most of all because I know that there is no such thing as what used to be.
Things have changed. Irreversibly.
What lies ahead seems uncertain.
That which yields is not always weak.
―Jacqueline Carey
Always—and especially during challenging and uncertain times—I remind myself to be like water; to be both soft and strong, yielding and powerful, all at once.
I remain steadfast. I’m fluid.
I’m solid, yet, I seep through cracks and orifices. I’m formless. I can take any shape.
Supple and flexible, and with the power to destroy, I withstand.
I flow.
The measure of intelligence is the ability to change.
―Albert Einstein
For this new moon in Taurus, I’d like to invite you on a sound-journey with me, for which I’ve created a special playlist on the theme of moving through changes like water.
I’d like to invite you to be like water with me—let’s all be water!
The new moon is a time to work with our instincts, so while tuning into the playlist, let’s also go inside and listen to our bodies and our intuition, and let it guide us to flow—like water—in the upcoming weeks.
Further, I suggest letting your intuition guide you to create your own ritual: It can be as simple as sitting down and gently playing the music in the background, or you can make it more elaborate.
For any new moon, I like to light a candle (or several), set an intention, or write a list of a few, and then meditate. This time, I’ll also use the playlist as a guided sound meditation.
Soft is stronger than hard, water stronger than rock, love stronger than violence.
— Hermann Hesse
With that, I wish you love, flow and a safe journey ahead!
