Bart is All Tied Up
Day 26 Preptober writing prompt challenge

Day 26: Write a journal entry from the point of view of your antagonist.
Question from the Preptober 31 Day Challenge from the Character Collective.
Knot That Hot
Well, this could be interesting. I’m not going to do one from each this time because it’ll blow out too quickly, I can just feel it. So, I’m going to invite one of my presumed antagonists to write a journal entry. I don’t think it’s safe to let the brothers choose between themselves, in fact, I know it’s not, so I’m going to roll for it. Where is my D20? Okay, so odd for Mark, because he’s odd, and even for Bart. Let’s see what we get.
16. Okay, so, Bart. I can’t say I’m not somewhat relieved! So let’s write a journal entry from the point of view of Bart.
Me: Bart, all yours.
Bart: For like, today?
Me: Yeah, Bart. Right now, wherever you’re at. I don’t want to control this or direct it. Just how you would write in a journal. If you write in a journal. Wait, do you have a journal?
Bart: *laughing* No, I don’t. I don’t really do words.
Mark: He can barely speak them, let alone write them, honey.
Bart: Fuck you, man. We rolled. You lost. Fuck off.
Me: Oh dear lord. Okay, okay. Just, you know, do it like a video blog. Just imagine somebody is writing something about the circus and they asked you about your day. How about that?
Bart: Yeah, I suppose I can do that.
Journal Entry of the Daring Escape Artist and Contortionist, Bartholemew Waskinsky
Yeah, okay, so it’s a nice day. You know, the sun’s out. My brother has a meeting today with Petra and some guy from Circus Twats are Us. My day is going to be pretty standard. Practicing with chains and stuff.
Oh, I guess, I can say, the whole Shibari thing’s been coming together. It’s going to be kind of exciting, I guess. Although I don’t know how I feel about my whole escape routine with that yet. I mean, you know, it just doesn’t seem like ropes are much of a challenge.
I guess I’ll find out today. Jack’s apparently going to be there, I guess. Doing his little rope training thing he’s been doing with everyone in preparation for next week’s show. Doesn’t matter what I think about it anyway, it’ll be spectacular. I mean, it always is. Mark is a giant pain in my ass, but I’ll give it to him, he knows how to put on a most epic performance.
I’m looking forward to seeing what Jack puts together with Kaleb. That’ll be interesting. So, I guess, you know, journal entries aren’t supposed to be that long, are they? I think that’s enough. I’m going to go now. I don’t know how to sign this thing off, so bye, I guess.
Bart: Was that okay?
Me: That was pretty good, Bart. Pretty good. Thank you.
Interesting insights
It seems some of Bart’s nuances of speech were coming through and his first mention of Kaleb made my heart flutter. Yes, yes, book two. Also, Puppy has a human name now — Hi Petra :) Petra is in full puppy mode and barked at me, haha. Oh, and yes, I saw mention of the rival circus. A little book three glimpse…
But first, I have to get through book one!
