5 Little-Known Benefits of Nose-Breathing
Improve your life with a few deep breaths

Breathing is our single most under-utilized tool. I mean, it’s literally the first thing we learn how to do when we’re born. Yet, most of us are doing it wrong.
So, how can you breathe effectively and why?
The answer, is right under your nose. Or, in your nose, I should say… on it… anyway it’s your nose. Here are 5 little-known benefits of breathing through your nose:
1. Better sleep:
Breathing through your nose allows you to offload carbon dioxide, helping you relax and sleep better.
2. Improved posture:
When air travels into your lungs through your nose, it fills from the bottom. This creates an aligned, upright posture. Mouth-breathing introduces air into the chest, creating a droopy, slouched posture.
3. Increased happiness:
Your body and mind work in tandem. Nose-breathing increases airflow to the brain, sending calming signals to your parasympathetic nervous system. Lowered activity in this part of the brain makes you feel safe and raises levels of enjoyment.
4. Brightens teeth:
Your nose comes equipped with its own filtration system. When you breathe through your mouth, air must travel through your mouth to get to your lungs. This causes plaque build-up. Nose-breathing bypasses the mouth altogether.
5. Improved physical performance:
Breathing through your nose allows air to move into your brain and muscle tissue more effectively, increasing strength, cardiovascular ability, and mental focus.
