August’s Second Week Prompt of Lifeline
It’s Time to Be Certain With Uncertainty
“Life to me is defined by uncertainty. Uncertainty is the state in which we live, and there is no way to outfox it.”
-Thomas H. Cook
Life is full of uncertainty. Managing uncertainty throughout life is a task in itself. It takes a lot of patience to handle the uncertainty. Uncertainty is a part of life. We all face it in our lives and it can’t be avoided. Whether it be our jobs, our health, our finances, or our relationships, we live in a state of uncertainty. There is nothing about which we can be entirely certain.
As human beings, we crave security for everything in our life. We are constantly worried about our future. We desire safety and a sense of control over our lives. Regardless of how well-prepared we are, life happens to everyone.
Our tolerance for uncertainty varies from person to person. You are not the only one who sometimes feels paralyzed by uncertainty. Many others share the same situation.
“Embrace uncertainty. Some of the most beautiful chapters in our lives won’t have a title until much later.”
-Bob Goff
You can handle uncertainty by embracing it. When you accept it, it becomes easier to deal with it.
“Uncertainty is the only certainty there is, and knowing how to live with insecurity is the only security.”
-John Allen Paulos
The first step to embracing uncertainty is acceptance. because it enables us to glimpse reality. Let's allow the uncertainty to be there in your space. It will make you feel relaxed. Always look for possibilities. Just like uncertainty, there are so many possibilities. Believe that there are many things that can go right in life. Don’t expect too much. Expectations make it hard for you to embrace uncertainty.
Expectations are a cause of disappointment.
Mindfulness is another tool that has helped me deal with uncertainty. You miss the chance to live in the moment when you are overly preoccupied with the future. Don’t spend too much time worrying about what lies ahead. The finest method for helping you focus on the here and now is meditation.
Today focus on possibilities and left the fear aside and enjoy life.
This week’s theme is “Uncertainty” and below is the prompt of the week.
Think about a time in your life when you couldn’t make a decision, and write based on this. Write a poem about a feeling of uncertainty that made you afraid of life.
I want to invite all the poets of Lifeline. I hope you will like this prompt.
