Ask Lewis: How is Manifestation Connected to Group Dynamics

4 ways manifest through support networks, and game theory

By Steven Weinberg

Manifestation is the ability of an individual to embrace, act, or have some person, place or thing, appear in this individual’s consciousness, and sensory awareness, and have this person, place or thing, appear in a specific and particular way.

Here is the essential introduction to this series of stories concerning the art and science of Manifestation.

As a professional forecaster I am always wary that subtle changes will affect the variables I am working in order to make a prediction.

Here we need to keep an eye on group dynamics. In groups, even one person with influence, can shift an entire group’s perspective.

In my process I am always wary of group think. I want independent thinkers. I want to avoid having team members that may believe that when others are doing something, they should do it too. This is especially so in A.I. design. I often use NLP to influence group members in a certain direction.

Many individuals are is drawn to be part of this group dynamic — To act like the group. It is often irresistible for such a person to avoid shifting behavior to that of the group they are part of or wish to be part of. It is the power of Tribal Thinking.

When a person is not clear about who they are, about their personal vision it is easiest is to use the behavior of others to guide them in how to think and what to do.

Here:

· They compare their behavior with what everybody else is doing.

· When there is a discrepancy between their actions and what is observed in others, they tend to shift their behavior.

· This natural pattern is exaggerated in a heuristic thinker, someone who is inclined to make decisions by trial and error.

· This same person may be susceptible to influence and even more so when the behavior being modeled is exaggerated.

· When such a person is presented not with some individual behavior, but by a group behavior, they will shift to group think at a faster rate

· When a neutral meeting takes place between an individual behavior and a group behavior the individual’s behavior will more often change before an entire group.

Here are 5 examples of the Application of power through Group Dynamics:

  • People becoming Nazis, communists or some other type of ideological slave.
  • Teenagers responding to peer pressure.
  • When a group of individuals are looking up at the sky a person walking by will do the same.
  • TV producers add laugh tracks to the least funny moments of a comedy as a mean to creating laughter.
  • religious groups are aware of and use the Group Dynamics. There is a practice known as “salting the collection plate.” Before the collection plates are handed out to the faithful, ushers will throw several different bills or checks onto the plate. Thus, no one ever gets an empty plate. This makes a considerable difference in contributions.

How to Out-strategize an Opponent in a Group Environment

It is often easier to outwit a competitor in a zero sum game in a one to one engagement than when in a large group environment. This is in part because there are many more group interactions taking place that are beyond your control. In addition the time frame needed to respond to a move on your opponent’s is much longer and give them the opportunity to switch tactics if they sense that you have discovered their actions.

One approach to addressing this challenge is to have a detailed checklist that can be implemented with enough lead time to permit effective planning and achieve an acceptable level of risk reduction.

In HAGT (Harrison’s Applied Game Theory) we call this “managing a game space risk profile.” Doing this will ensure you understand the types of movements your adversary might make and, your vulnerability to these. One of the most basic game strategies a competitor may use to achieve their goals is disruption. It is thus essential that you become aware of what resources you need to mitigate the impact of a disruption

Ordinarily the focus would be on intentional, human-caused events however in the process of doing this one may also need to deal with Black Swans- Seemingly inconsequential events that were unexpected that in time can have a major impact on an environment.
