Art, is Meditation, is Art

When I struggle to filter life and all that it throws at us, I turn to my sketch book.

I Tune It All Out

In the past when I felt stressed, I’d pick up a pen and sketchbook and agonize over what to draw. The idea was to use art therapy to destress. The fact that I couldn’t think of something mind-blowing and impressive to draw just added more stress.

It completely defeated the goal and was counter-productive. I turned to art to unwind and then got all wound up because I couldn’t come up with an idea.

Honestly, there are days when I wonder how my brain works. It was during one of these frustrating moments that I scribbled a spiral on the page. I was irritated and let it out on the page.

Voila!

My eyes saw patterns and I was happy.

I’m a simple soul. It doesn’t take much.

This Week I Spiraled Out of Control — Creatively

I drew a spiral on a page. The pen left a coil of inspiration and before I knew it, I saw a Henna design, a cactus, a cat, and a sunflower, and I was happy.

I wrote inspirational words wherever space allowed it and I smiled.

My creative soul twirled with delight.

Can You Find It?

Look at the cover image.

Can you find the words and phrases? There are at least fourteen in this spiral.

Look for the cat next to the power candle?

There’s a half-hidden respectful sunflower and a one tooth happy face.

I’m Ok

I left it on the page. I can go back and look at the smiley cat and search for the words. Then sigh with contentment. I’ll see something different every time I return.

The spiral art piece isn’t finished. There is a bit of white space left for me to play with. Who knows what lurks in this labyrinth?

Be Ok

Don’t think. Just draw aimlessly and as you go the art will flow.
