Summary

A person plans to use their Aunt Mildread, known as Aunt Mildread, as a "toxic magnet" at their birthday party to identify and eliminate negative influences in their life.

Abstract

The narrative revolves around an individual who devises a strategy to filter out toxic people from their social circle by inviting everyone, including their notoriously negative Aunt Mildread from Port Putridion, to their birthday party. The protagonist's logic is that Aunt Mildread's presence will naturally repel positive individuals and attract the negative ones, thereby revealing who the toxic individuals are. This unconventional approach to social cleansing is portrayed with humor, as the protagonist and their friend discuss the plan with laughter, despite Aunt Mildread's reputation as a "party pooper" who dislikes parties but despises not being invited even more. The story is inspired by Josh Knapp's "Unfortunate World" and encourages readers to explore more of the author's work through a link to the "Microcosm" series on Medium.

“I want to invite Aunt Mildred for my birthday.”

“You mean Aunt Mildread?”

“Haha, yes! Mildread from Port Putridion.”

“But she’s the ultimate party pooper, and she hates invitations to parties.”

“She hates not to be invited even more!”

“She hates everything!”

Both laughing.

“No, but seriously, why do you want to invite her?”

“I want to get rid of the toxic people in my life; I’m getting too old to deal with them. But I don’t know which is which. So I decided to invite everybody and watch who’s going to gossip with Mildred. She’ll be my toxic magnet.”
