Appreciating Myself
A reply to Jimmy Doom’s 250 word challenge

Jimmy Doom threw down the gauntlet and asked us to write 250 words about what we appreciate about ourselves.
When I was younger, I didn’t appreciate myself as much as I do now. I always worried when I was a teenager that I was too feminine. Now, that I’m more experienced and comfortable with myself, I enjoy my femme side. It’s my super power that took me a while to figure out I had.
I was nervous and anxious when I was a teen and in my college years. I grew out of it as I got older and realized people are pretty cool. I appreciate that I’ve been able to push through challenges, despite fear, to grow and develop into my best self.
The same is true now that I’m transitioning. I had some moments when I wondered what would happen. Instead of fear, I decided to embrace my journey and have fun. I am glad that I did.
I appreciate that I can have fun in my life, enjoy the journey and just be happy where ever I am without worrying about keeping up with others. I appreciate learning to love myself. And, I appreciate all the great people I’ve met along the way who have helped me to grow into the person I am and am becoming.
I love all of you so much and am glad you are reading this.
I pass the challenge along to Gurpreet Dhariwal, Kira Dawn, Simran Kankas and NaNa'sworld to join in on Jimmy’s challenge:
