Abstract

id="cccd">Getting this one off the ground was much smoother than the first. The software, of course, becomes easier to use with practice. This time, I had it typed up in the proper size pages. I uploaded it Into Kindle Create all the way, finished and edited, and as formatted as it could possibly be. I also already knew there could be some issues when getting to uploading the paperback manuscript because I had trouble there the first time, so I didn’t panic when I got to that part.

All the problems I encountered were user error. The very first problem I encountered, I opened the paperback form first, but not to worry, no panicking, just open a separate window and start over with eBook. Once I had that uploaded and finished, I went to upload the paperback manuscript. It was a little tricky. I thought I found it, and when I got to the preview, I couldn’t believe my eyes; I had somehow uploaded the manuscript for Ripping The Scales From My Eyes into the cover for Rhythm And Muse. It seemed impossible, but impossible tasks are what I am best at.

So I tried yet again, and this time I got the right book, but again, the same thing happened like the first time, where it gave every entry in the TOC page number 6! This time, I remembered seeing the second box, so I knew it had to be there; I found it. Then, as I was entering the price for the Paperback edition, I realized I had entered the same price for the digital copy instead of a reduced price, so I had to go back in and fix that, but that was it. Appeasing The Muse

Well, when Medium shuts one door, I will scramble through a half-open window whether I am sure there’s a way down on the other side or not. It’s the only way I know how to live this crazy life in the dappled shade, grasping at dancing flecks of happiness.

When you hear your muse calling, don’t wonder if the eerie whisper is real; run and dance your way to freedom and light and love, possessed by the electrifying passion. There is a life to be lived out there. Who cares if anyone buys the book of your desires? It’s there for the reading, and you are filling it every day you live authentically.

I love reading all the perfectly woven tales of lives lived to the muse’s beautiful tune. Keep writing your way into the halls of eternity, where the words dance away on the notes the muse plays for us. Rising higher on the winds of our feather quills dipped generously in liquefied creativity. Flapping until they carry us away.

This second book focuses on the rhythm of dance, poetry, and music, as well as the inspiration of the muse. Just like the first book, these have all been published here on Medium and are simply all collected along a theme with some new text as a forward for the book and the two main sections — Rhythm and Muse.

Getting this one off the ground was much smoother than the first.

I was momentarily upset. I walked away, stretched, and walked back over when I remembered calling KDP help, and they told me that can sometimes happen when you upload the eBook version.

Last time, I must have had an old version because I had to jump through a million hoops and basically format it entirely in Google Docs, title page, and everything to get the paperback copy of the book out; it was a huge pain. This time, I remembered seeing the second box, so I knew it had to be there; I found it. Then, as I was entering the price for the Paperback edition, I realized I had entered the same price for the digital copy instead of a reduced price, so I had to go back in and fix that, but that was it. I won, I did it, and the stompy dance was broken out in celebration!

Now, to fix the promotional materials I had started working on, and actually going and starting to promote these more than just posting them on here and my Instagram. This is the much harder part I forgot about when I decided Poetry wasn’t a genre publishers picked up, so I should just self-publish… there is a reason they don’t pick it up. They just don’t sell very many copies. I have devised a strategy; we will see how it goes. Lake Tahoe is a very artsy, tourist place, so I have to force myself, I HAVE to go to the bookstores, fancy coffee shops, etc … and try to get them to at least place an advertisement, if not keep copies of my book on the shelf.

I want to thank Susi Moore and MuserScribe for hosting my muse-core poetry. Is that a thing? I am making it one. That is my new aesthetic from now on. I’m going to need more billowy dresses and some leather sandals. I may have picked the wrong time of year for this…
