Anonymous, Apple, and also LiveScore with Ukraine
The small and large anti-war stances are increasing
The war in Ukraine of Putin’s Russia immediately gave rise to peace initiatives in various forms, including digital ones: from Apple and Anonymous to Hattrick and LiveScore.
The hacker collective Anonymous, on the other hand, carried out cyberattacks against the Kremlin, inviting Putin to end hostilities and literally taking the field, as the group managed to break into Moscow’s telematic system to replace communications between Russian military bases with the transmission of Ukrainian folk songs, almost mocking the war.
Then there are some smaller but equally significant examples of reality. One is that of Hattrick, a video game based on football and fantasy players, which has hundreds of thousands of subscribers and which has decided to allocate 10 thousand euros to the Swedish Red Cross in Ukraine.
One of the latest initiatives instead is LiveScore, a site, and App that gives real-time updates on sport and match results and which has now completely obscured everything about Moscow and its surroundings: “Why can’t I see any Russian competitions on LiveScore? “ reads an update in the “Help” section of the portal. Here is the explanation:
“In solidarity with the people of Ukraine, LiveScore will not feature content from any match or competition in Russia for the foreseeable future. This includes any level of professional competition which would otherwise have been featured within our service. The people of Ukraine are at the forefront of our thoughts, and we wholeheartedly condemn the actions being taken by the Russian government”.
These stories show that each of us, in his own small way, can do something to express solidarity and closeness to the Ukrainian people under attack, taking a firm stand against any kind of war.
