Even Hattrick, the football of the imagination, in solidarity with Ukraine
The portal with thousands of users around the world has allocated 10 thousand euros to the Swedish Red Cross operating in the country under attack by Russia
Solidarity with Ukraine, after the attack on Putin’s Russia, is truly transversal. Perhaps one of the most curious cases concerns the international portal Hattrick, very popular with football fans: it donated 10 thousand euros to the Swedish Red Cross operating in the country.
What is Hattrick
It is a football management game, which focuses on running an imaginary club made up of completely fictional players and which is basically free, unless users choose to “support” the site voluntarily.
Born in Sweden in 1997 and available in 144 countries around the world, it is a real case study of its kind, which sees hundreds of thousands of subscribers around the globe.
The solidarity initiative
In these hours the “coaches” of the game have seen a communication arrive that reads:
“This week a peaceful country in Europe was invaded, putting millions of people at risk. This includes hundreds of Hattrick community members and one member of our development team. We are in solidarity with Ukraine and I hope that our users, on all sides of this conflict, will remain safe.”
The portal staff thus announced the sending of 10 thousand euros to the Swedish Red Cross in Ukraine “to support aid to people affected by the war”.
“Each of us must do something to ensure that we live and that we live in the kind of world we want,” continues the official statement.
The note ends with a request addressed to the “coaches” in the typical style of the video game:
“We ask all managers to interact calmly in Hattrick despite the situation and not to verbally attack or insult other managers”.
If nothing else, the senselessness and madness of this and all wars have revived the spirit of collaboration and dialogue that should always characterize all sectors of everyday life.
