The website content describes a series of tanka poems inspired by a photograph of the moon, shared as a poetry prompt, and reflects on the themes of creativity, knowledge, and spiritual connections.
Abstract
The author of the website has shared a personal creative journey sparked by a photograph of the moon taken during the day. This image, sent initially to brighten a friend's day, evolved into a poetry prompt issued to a community of writers. The author composed a series of tanka poems, influenced by the image and the spontaneous flow of creativity, including musical inspiration and contemplations on the story of Adam and Eve. The poems explore themes of knowledge, the absence of sin, and the spiritual concept of soul partners incarnating on Earth. The author invites others to respond with their own poetry, suggesting various forms such as haibun, and offers their publication, "C&C," as a platform for works born from synchronicity and channeled inspiration, while also mentioning "Write Under the Moon" as another suitable publication for moon-themed poems.
Opinions
The author values the sharing of creative inspiration, as evidenced by sending the moon photograph to a friend and using it as a poetry prompt.
There is a reinterpretation of traditional religious narratives, such as the story of Adam and Eve, suggesting a perspective that absence of sin and a pursuit of knowledge.
The author believes in the concept of soul partners and the idea that the experience of physical incarnation, including the ability to have sex, is an incentive for souls to reincarnate.
The creation of the poetry series was influenced by a combination of visual art, music, and personal reflections, indicating a multidisciplinary approach to creativity.
The author encourages writers to explore different poetic forms and to publish their work in specific publications that align with the themes of their writing.
The concept of synchronicity and channeled inspiration is considered significant in the author's creative process and is encouraged in the work of others.
An Impromptu Poetry Prompt
A tanka series for my friend and yours Claire Kelly
Author’s Photo
Twig lady doing
Summersaults around the moon
Pegasus watches
Her synchronous gymnastics
Before three eyes morph the horse
Flying elephant
With the neck of a giraffe
Turns to unicorn
All while snake coiling the branch
Looks on so curiously
Knows Eve did not sin
All Adam sought was knowledge
And her company
Their souls birthed from Tree of Life
To learn and have sex on Earth
When I see a great moon, particularly during the day, I often take out my phone and snap a picture to send to Claire Kelly to brighten my friend’s day. At 10x magnification, I couldn’t hold the phone steady enough, so I went under a tree, braced the phone against the trunk and this shot emerged. When I looked at it, I thought it would be an interesting image for a poetry prompt and DM’d it to Ravyne to see if she wanted to issue a prompt in Promptly Written.
After sharing the image with Claire, I decided to write my own image-inspired poem and share it with all of you and also issue this prompt — I would love to see the variety of poems of any form that the image inspires from all of you; or, write a poem inspired by an image of the moon that you have randomly taken with your phone.
Ravyne likes when I write about my creative process. First I wrote a haiku in my mind:
Twig lady doing
Gymnastics around the moon
Nature’s exercise
Then when I started to type and realized I saw other creatures in the tree and this song came on from my playlist of liked songs running on shuffle mode, I almost changed the title to 6 Senses Perception and
I expanded to tanka, and then the series. I almost scrapped the tanka series for a haibun (a combination of a prose poem and a haiku) if anyone, jules perhaps, wants to try a form you may not have used before.
The last line of the second stanza and the third tanka in the series, or perhaps it’s a chain (Ravyne??), evokes my thoughts in these two stories:
and that with no physical body, while souls make platonic love in Heaven, one of the incentives to keep incarnating into increasingly painful and/or difficult human lives is the ability to have actual sex with our Soul Partners.
I decided to publish here in my pub as the original idea behind my creation of the pub was,
Inspired to write after reading someone’s promptless post? Witness something that stuck with you and connect it to an idea you had since, or maybe before? You may be the unbeknownst recipient of a channeled inspiration,
and I am certain that my spirit guides and/or Sitara ChannSpired the idea to write this poem and create this story.
Responses to this poetry prompt do not fit that description as it’s directly prompted by me and you should publish wherever you want. Yet, if you feel other synchronicity contributed to your creation, by all means, submit it here and if you are not yet a writer for C&C, ask me to add you via comment or email ([email protected]). If your poem contains thoughts about the moon, Claire’s pub, Write Under the Moon, where I am also an editor, would be a great destination. Regardless of where you publish, please tag me.
