An Accidental Find in Tallinn
I was looking for the Fotografiska Exhibition
I was looking through some photos the other night as I’m wont to do when I’m looking for a photo in particular when I found these and remembered when I came across them by accident. My best finds when I’m travelling are accidental!
I was looking for the Fotografiska Exhibition which I had read about in the Air Baltic Magazine on the flight to Tallinn. Sometimes I find gems in those free magazines. The exhibition looked interesting so I thought I’d go do something arty. I’m a history buff so unless the art has some history, it’s not top of my to-do list.
I was out and about and the sun was still shining so I called a Bolt to get me to Telliskivi Creative City on the other side of the city. It was quite spread out and after being dropped off, I walked in completely the wrong direction. Must have been the sunshine that addled my brain. I wanted to see the Fotografiska Exhibition. And this is what I found instead.
Quite a find, don’t you think? I can only guess at the meaning of some of them if they even have any meaning or are they just really beautiful and/or frightening?
Eventually, I located the Fotografiska Exhibition, paid my 10 euro entrance fee and loved the collections. Here’s a sample:
After wandering through the photographic exhibits, I caught the elevator to the 6th floor and went out onto the deck to admire the view and to figure out the way back to the train station. At least I know my way from there. I just have to follow the tracks back to the station. Simple! The only trouble was that I ended up in a construction site and on the wrong side of a 6-foot fence.
I was quite dismayed at the thought of having to walk all the way back again, but I couldn’t see a way out. An enterprising young man came along, saw my predicament, lifted one of the sections of fence, and beckoned me through the gap. Thank goodness I was out — there were cranes and equipment working and I’m sure I wasn’t supposed to be there.
After passing through the underpass to the other side of the road, I was confident I knew the way from here, but apparently I didn’t because I ended up lost! My first time out of the Old City Walls! I honestly don’t know how I did it!
Krasi Shapkarova shares some wonderful street art from Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
And I love Nella DiCarlo’s street art found in two small Canadian towns.
