A visit to Amritsar enjoying various things

💙American visitors

When foreigners visit India, they are keen to see the Golden Temple in Amritsar.

My American friends wanted to show this temple to their kids. The girls had seen pictures and were overawed by their beauty. They asked questions as to whether it was really gold in the building. They wanted to touch and see.

So here we went.

You can see that American visitors are enjoying their ride. The picture below 👇🏼shows an autorickshaw

💙💙Autorickshaw

The autorickshaws in Amritsar are different from New Delhi the capital city of India

In New Delhi, only two people can sit as it is a two-seater. as you can see in the picture they allow 6 people to sit in Amritsar.

The autorickshaws are much bigger than normal ones.

The two American children threw their hands up, shouted with joy, and enjoyed themselves a lot.

They told their mom to send the picture to their maternal grandmom. “There are no seat belts and it is highly unsafe but great fun.” was the caption they wanted to send with the picture.

These visitors were so inspirational. They wanted to try everything and be like one the residents. Little inconveniences did not bother them.

The picture below 👇🏼gives a view of the Golden Temple that they wanted to visit and which is located in Amritsar.

💙💙💙Amritsar

Amritsar is known for The Golden Temple. It is a historic and sacred pilgrim spot place for the Sikh community. It is like Rome for the Catholics.

It is known for its architectural beauty.

People from all over the world come here. Vibrations are very positive and people patiently wait till their turn comes to go to the temple.

The foundation for the gurudwara was laid in 1581and completed in 1588

Maharaja Ranjit Singh renovated the gurudwara and decorated it with gold foil in 1830, which led the Harmandir Sahib to be known as the Golden Temple.

This is situated in the old part of Amritsar. The temple area is very neat and clean. As you can see it is situated in the center of a lake and you have to cross a bridge to go in. It is standing in the middle of a water body.

Amritsar or Amrit Sarovar is the name of the lake and the city has been named after it.

The shrine is influenced by different architectural styles. It is a mixture of Indo-Islamic Mughal architecture and Hindu Rajput architecture.

It is a two-storied structure. The lower level of the shrine is built out of marble, the upper level is covered in gold panels. The top has a gold gilded dome. The doors of the shrine are also covered in gold foil.

I just visited the Golden Temple. You can read about it in The Golden Temple Inspires Joy And Peace. It is a powerhouse of positive vibrations.

💙💙💙💙Apples

We have a lot of apples growing in Kashmir and now in the Himachal area. We still get many apples from the USA and it is named Washington.

The kids loved the apples. They were so fresh. We carried them on the train and had them while returning. In our group, there was a master chef who sliced the apples professionally.

We all enjoyed the fruit along with the kids.

💙💙💙💙💙Art-

We went to Sada Pind which means our village in English. It is a replica of a village in Punjab. It shows the life of the average people in north India.

The culture is represented through a village environment and their professions with their culture and art.

There were many games and rides for the children. They just went wild.

The whole place was amazing.

My friend Sandy and I went to the room where a rickshaw was dressed up. The art was amazing. Look at the rickshaw with the flowers. The rickshaw represents the rural life of the north of India.

The embroidered panel at the back represents the art of the village.

We sat on the rickshaw and one of the passers-by asked for our camera and clicked our picture. In exchange, they were a newly married couple so we clicked their pictures.

The flowers are artfully decorated.

The takeaways

  • 🔷You can enjoy the small things in life when you are traveling if you have the attitude to do so whether you are young or old.
  • 🔷🔷Be observant and experience as many things as you can. They will surely be different from where you live and it will give you a chance to learn how people live in other countries and towns.

To wrap up

The American guests were happy with the warmth of the people and the beauty of the temple but they were overwhelmed by the traffic and the number of people and the congestion in the town. They also found the autorickshaws very interesting but unsafe.

Despite all the hiccups they enjoyed their trip as they had an attitude of gratitude for the people who treated them so well and for having seen the beautiful world-famous shrine made in gold.

Many thanks to JoAnn Ryan for tagging me and challenging me to think creatively and write things with A. I have given 5 things that happened on the trip to Amritsar this week.
