PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE
Alpine Views Under Blue Skies
Week 150 of the photographic documentary of my daily life
From one adventure to the next one. We just got back from our road trip and hiking adventure to Czechia, did two loads of laundry, worked two days and were off again.
Yes, this is the last time we get the chance to get a breakaway before high season starts, and so we made the best of it.
On Friday, we got back from our road trip to Czechia (also known under the name of the Czech Republic). We unloaded the car, unpacked our bags and rested for the evening.
Just as I was going out to hang out with the other colleagues living with us in the trailer park at the airport, I saw that tiny stretch of a rainbow on the horizon.
I smiled.

On Saturday, we were busy at work jumping out of planes. The skies were blue and the wind turbines were turning fast as the wind was rather strong.

On Sunday, we started early and finished early. Together with another colleague and his dog, we then jumped into the car to head South. Hiking in the Alps is the plan, but for the night, we’d be sleeping at his parents’ place.
And what a home they have. I didn’t know they lived on an old farm. Both of us, David and I, were stunned by the little farm they were running. A dream.
Just as we arrived at their place, the sun was setting over the horse pasture. Such an idyllic setting in southern Germany.

On Monday, we got up before the rest of the family and jumped into the car right after breakfast. Two hours of driving on tiny winding roads led us to the beautiful region of Berchtesgaden where we’d be staying for three nights in a mountain cottage.
Loading our equipment for the next few days onto our backs, we carried it in our hiking backpacks to the top. The sun was shining, the sky was blue and the birds were singing all around.
Did I mention the flowers? It’s springtime in the Alps and the pastures are blooming in a thousand colors. But flowers blossoms and grow as well on cliffs, in between rocks and everywhere else up here.

The following day we went on a long hike across a peak and past a beautiful mountain lake. We had to cross several snow fields, which were fun and beautiful to look at. And yes, we might have had a snowball fight or two. Might.
In the evening, getting back to the mountain cottage, we were tired but happy. And filled with a new load of memories.

Our mountain cottage was located right on the border between Germany and Austria and not far from the famous Königssee. While we thought, we’d see this lake the day before, another mountain range was blocking the view.
Today, we summited a peak offering stunning views across this crystal-clear lake nestled between the huge mountain ranges of the Alps.

And as time passed quickly, the trip was nearing the end. We descended down from the cottage and stopped at the Königssee for a refreshing swim. The shores were filled with tourists of all nationalities and most of them went on ferry rides across the lake.
We headed home…
