Dear readers, my new publication, ‘All’s Well’ is seeking a new Editor. We are expanding.
Dear readers, are you able to take direction and do you want to learn how to query? I am happy to teach you the etiquette of editing.
As an editor with over 4 years’ experience working with award-winning authors and writers, and having taken a course in How To Query with The Chartered Institute of Editors and Proofreaders, after pursuing the art of writing for almost 4 decades, and gaining my MA in creative writing with distinction in 2021, I understand best practise for editors and want to implement that in all I do for my publications. To that end, I will be your guide with regard to how to query. That means, how to respond to writers and how to edit to a rubric for our publication as a collaborative team.
In addition to that, to date I have edited for several publications on Medium. This means that I understand the pitfalls and problems we encounter as editors on this platform, and I have developed strategies and ways that we can work to avoid some of these arising.
I believe that it is important to start a publication with clear guidelines for editors, and that is what I have always done. There are always unexpected problems we encounter as editors, but knowing what the main pitfalls are and observing best practice helps us to offer a good service as editors and by providing you with a rubric, I endeavour to guide and assist you.
I am seeking someone who likes to read on Medium and would like to grow their skills here. Are you someone willing to learn from me, and take instructions? If so, this could be the role for you.
Another suggestion is that you are someone who trusts me and has already corresponded with me on Medium. This is another essential detail as we grow the publication. You would need to be a seasoned writer with a clear understanding of key concepts in publishing.
If you are on the cusp of starting your own publication, this might not be one for you as you will be needed here for a couple of hours a day on a Friday and a Monday, at least. I would like at least 6 months’ commitment for this particular role, and you should be an avid reader on Medium. Of course, this would be open-ended voluntary role, and it is up to you what you can commit to. Generally, our stories are 2 to 4 minutes in length, although we occasionally publish something a little longer.
This volunteering vacancy will be open until April 2024. I will make a decision in April after corresponding with and offering a guest opportunity to anyone who is interested in this role.

Hermione Wilds is the pen name of Hermione Laake MA. Wilds is an awards-nominated author of five works of fiction available on Amazon and Medium as well as several short stories. She has raised five children and is editor-in-chief for ‘All’s Well’ as well as her art blog, ‘The Difffference: Achilles Heal’ and the tiny ‘Shoe Love Mag’ a magazine born out of her love and appreciation of shoes. The editor currently volunteers for ‘Soul Mag’.
