They’re. Just. Awesome.

Apple launches the newest AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) at the Far Out event. I’d say the little buds’ve got their biggest upgrades ever, hands-down.

This time, it isn’t only about their hardware, but also their software. It isn’t only about the AirPods, but also their home — the case!

Here they’re listed.

#1. Touch Control

Credit: Apple

The new AirPods’ volume can be controlled by swiping up or down on their stems, yes!

Apple calls it Touch Control.

What’s more, you can click on them to pause/play audio, answer/end calls. Or, hold as such to toggle between Adaptive Transparency and Active Noise Cancellation (refer #5).

#2. Battery Life

The new AirPods get pretty improved battery life. Charge them once, and you’ll get 6 hrs of listening time*, and the new case can hold charge worth 30 hrs of listening*.

* With Active Noise Cancellation enabled.

#3. Built-in AirTags, feels like it

Yep, the AirPods Pro 2 get AirTags built-in. Don’t believe? Let me prove it.

  • They can emit their location using the Find My network. ✔️
  • They’re now Precision Finding compatible — i.e., you can get guided directions from a U1-enabled iPhone¹, if you’ve misplaced it somewhere nearby. ✔️
  • The case can now give out loud beeps — with the same AirTags’ iconic cacophony. ✔️

That’s it, so they have AirTags inside.

Nah kidding (you know it too), they’ve now got all AirTag capabilities.

Here’s the speaker that’ll beep (blue).

The red arrow’s pointing towards the new lanyard loop for the AirPods Pro 2’s case. It’s to attach the case to a backpack or handbag for easy finding.

Lanyard’s sold separately tho, why? Because it’s Apple bro.

#4. Wireless Charging

The new case’s got the old lightning port, but is MagSafe compatible too. So you can now charge it with a Qi-certified charging mat or your Apple Watch’s charger.

#5. New XS ear tips

The AirPods now get an extra pair of ear tips of size XS (extra small) — giving more customers a better fit.

Lastly,

#6. The backbone — H2 Chip

The new H2 chip can deliver

• Active Noise Cancellation

It minimises the intensity of loud surrounding noises (like power tools and sirens) while you’re in a melodious musical groove.

• Adaptive Transparency

Gets you stay aware of the world by amplifying only the sounds that are important to you, filtering out unnecessary noises (with 2x more power than its predecessor).

• Smarter noise cancellation

So you’ll sound more natural on an audio or video call.

• Faster audio processing

Giving you quick high-fidelity sound.

• Low distortion

Delivering every subtle detail with high clarity.
